Since Valentine’s Day 2003, Kris Carr has been living with an incurable, rare stage IV cancer. At the time of her diagnosis, Kris was a free spirit living in New York City and working as a successful photographer and actress. But when doctors found dozens of tumors in her liver and lungs, she immediately began filming and writing about the first days, months and years of her new normal.
Today, Kris is a multiple New York Times best-selling author, speaker, and wellness activist. Her breakthrough documentary, Crazy Sexy Cancer, chronicling her journey with the disease, premiered at SXSW and then later aired on TLC, The Discovery Channel and OWN. In the process, Kris launched a global conversation about prevention and empowerment.
As an irreverent foot soldier in the fight against disease, Kris inspires countless people to take charge of their health and happiness by learning to take care of themselves. Her advice on healthy living has been read and embraced by millions through her books and at Kriscarr.com. Named “a new role model” by the New York Times, she regularly lectures at hospitals, wellness centers, and universities such as Harvard, and has appeared on both The Oprah Winfrey Show and SuperSoul Sunday. Kris lives on a farm in Woodstock, New York with her husband, Brian, and their two rescue dogs, Lola and Buddy.
